Beres Hammond One Of Jamaica's Greatest Singer/Songwriter And
Reggae Artist

Once you hear one of Beres Hammond songs you'll be a fan for life. His song writing and singing career span over thirty years, and he is still going strong with his soulful reggae music.  His versatile music was influence from practically every kind of music over a lifetime that includes ska and rocksteady.

The ninth of ten children, born on August 28, 1955 in Annotto Bay St. Mary, Jamaica

Beres had his first recording in the 1970's, was part of a band named Zap Pow as lead singer, but preferred being a solo reggae artist where he had total control of his creativity and his music.  He is one of Jamaica Reggae Music Vacation premier reggae artist.

In 1985 Beres Hammond formed his own record label Harmon Records and had his dancehall breakthrough with "What One Dance Can Do" that brought him to international reggae artist awareness and from then he has never looked back.

Beres Hammond success continued with "Tempted To Touch", in 1990, which is still a hit even today in the dancehall.  He took control of his career by building his own home recording studio taking and creating his own production company that complements his method of composing.

My two favorite Beres Hammond albums are Sweetness and The Ultimate Collection of Can't Stop a Man: Best of.

The whole album of "Can't Stop A Man" is great, the riddim will keep your feet moving, but selections #18 - "Dancehall Vibes" and #19 - "Giving Thanks" just resonate with me and I hope they will with you also.

Beres Hammond - Video "Giving Thanks"

Here is the lyrics for "Giving Thanks" selection #19 on Can't Stop A Man some of the best musical reggae riddims of Beres Hammond.

Want to say Thank you Father,
Thank you yes,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, ya
Thank you for giving me my health and strength, ya
Thank you for making me sane,
Thank you, Thank you, thank you, thank you
Thank you every so much for my health
Thank you for life for health and strength, ya
Father I want to thank you, thank you
Thank you Thank you, Thank you Father,
Now may the words of my mouth
And the mediation in my heart be forever,
And ever and ever be acceptable in your sight,
Thank you Father,
Where do I start to thank you, yes
I do not know, I do not know.... where
yes yes where...

Right ya now, I'm taking it easy,
Check my steps, I'm not in a hurry,
Soon I'll have the things that I needed so bad.. ya
Morning sun rising behind me,
Stars at night come out to remind me,
To give thanks for everything that I have. ya...

All is well, I've got my health and in such good shape,
Pockets broken and I've got nothing waiting for the break.
But I'm giving thanks, all I've got,
I'm giving thanks, whether or not,
I'm giving thanks for the life in me,
I'm giving thanks O God.

Right ya now, the friends I'm surrounded,
Are but few, glad I'm not crowded,
Just enough, just enough for me to concentrate.
One by one I am counting my blessings,
Getting close to goals that I'm setting,
If I make mistakes correct me, don't you hesitate....now now

All is well, I've got my health and in such good shape, my God
Pockets broken and I have got nothing waiting for the break.
But I'm giving thanks, all I've got,Lord Yes
I'm giving thanks, whether or not,
I'm giving thanks for the life you have given me,
I'm giving thanks O Lord
Yes I'm giving thanks, all I've got,
I'm giving thanks, whether or not,
I'm giving thanks for the life, for this sweet life in me,

I'm giving thanks, whether or not,
I'm giving thanks for the life I've got,
I'm giving thanks now.
Yes I'm giving thanks, all I've got,
I'm giving thanks, whether or not,
I'm giving thanks for the life in me, for this sweet life in me,
I'm giving thanks now ...

I'm giving thanks New York
Love you New York....

I'm giving thanks, all I've got,
I'm giving thanks, whether or not,
I'm giving thanks for the life I've got,
I'm giving thanks now.
Yes I'm giving thanks, all I've got,
I'm giving thanks, whether or not,
I'm giving thanks for the life in me,
I'm giving thanks now ...
